Maoyuu Maou Yuusha Ep 1: The land is attacked by demons and the people called upon a savior to save them who happen to be Yuusha or Hero. However Yuusha being impatient, went straight to confront the Maou or Demon Queen who happen to be a beautiful demon lady. After some debates and convincing, Yuusha agreed to help her make the world a better place for both humans and demons...
By the way, the horns are fake. |
If you are expecting an all out action show like Lord of the Ring, think again. It is more of a political show with references to current modern affairs like the economy and political stability to a country. Maou actually explained that there will always be a gain and loss in any scenarios and she planned to change the playing field and Yuusha being skeptical, agreed to help her. Fukuyama Jun and Koishimizu Ami have great chemistry, debating each other which it is similar to another show they did together-Wolf and Spice (It also dealt with similar themes)
This show is not for everyone but if you like politics and debating, you can give it a watch. For me personally, it is like Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon all over again but less fun.
Cuticle Detective Inaba Ep 1: Hiroshi Inaba is an altered being made from the genes of human and wolves and work as a Police Detective. However his brother went missing which resulted him in quitting the force and set up with a private detective agency with a cross dressing, Yuta and the straight guy, Kei.
How not to laugh at a villian like that? |
His latest case involved a mafia boss from Italy named Don Valentino who happened to be a talking goat who want to eat all the Japanese Yen and producing counterfeit money of himself...
I am kinda on the fence with this one although we have a main protagonist who used his special skill of smelling any hair to solve a case but I can't get myself to think that the villain is a talking goat who should be belong in a Looney Tune cartoon.
Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru Ep 1: AKA OreShura is about Eita who does not want to get involved in any romantic relationship and focusing on his studies. When the beauty of the school, Masuzu confessed her love for him, he become the centre of attention.
However Masuzu revealed her true intentions-She want Eita to be her fake boyfriend to ware off other suitors and threaten him to reveal his own fantasy stories in his old school notebook which she found it. Eita has no choice but to become her fake boyfriend. His childhood friend, Chiwa heard what is going on and decided to fight Masuzu over him...
I read a bit of the manga version of this show and it was following closely to it. Eita was surprisingly all right and he really didn't care about romance and just want to finish his studies due to his irresponsible parents abandoning him (Sounds like a familiar young bulter that we know of) Masuzu is voiced by the lovely Tamura Yukari was both sweet and sadistic. I enjoyed her torment tone as she threaten Eita and using his notebook as a barging chip was hilarious. Overall, not bad for a first episode but the fun start when Chiwa get into this unlikely triangle...
Bakumatsu Gijinden Roman Ep 1: During the Shogunate Era in Japan, a mysterious phantom thief steal the rich and give it to the poor. His name is Nezumi Kozo aka Roman. In the day, Roman work with his sister. Koharu in a shop selling decorative chopsticks and is the town's helper who goes around helping people in need with a price.
I am SUPER ROMAN!!! |
When mysterious swordsmen attacked random people, Roman and his friends went into action and discovered the richest man in town is behind it as he want to extort protection fees from the town people. Roman smashed his plot (With a power suit?) however there are mysterious forces who is watching his every move...
If you want to get away from all the Moe shows for a while, try Roman and I am actually enjoying it! Reason being it is an old theme being done afresh. Roman is like Robin Hood and his trusted companions which included his sister, an inventor, a Kaiji doctor, and a shrine maiden used their skills in spying and infiltration to take down evil doers. Although I find hard to believe that Power Suits were already invented in the 1800s. Great Start for a show that is pretty low profile!
Senran Kagura Ep 1: Asuka is a ninja-in-training at the Hanzo Academy which double as a ninja training school. Together with her friends, Ikaruga, Katsuragi, Yagyu and Hibari, they are trained to be ninjas for the side of Justice.
Yes, Ikaruga..suck that roll..(Yeah, my favourite character is Ikaruga) |
In their first mission, they were supposed to take down some delinquents in the shopping district but Asuka got side tracked in helping a girl, Homura find her classmates. Homaru somehow tried to murder her but failed. Meanwhile, the rest of the girls battled delinquents who are being control by a mysterious force. Although Asuka returned and got reprimanded, they didn't know Homura belong to a group of ninjas working on the side of Evil...
Zoro, meet your female counterpart! |
Based on the popular 3DS game that I played, I was happy to see the characters come to life. Their first mission is the same as the game although they fought than just a few delinquents. The fan service is all right but there is not enough action scenes to show them how powerful each of the girls are. Perhaps when the girls started battling Homura and her team, we will know by then. (I hope the girls' clothes get destroyed just like how the game does it which I know a lot of people want to see it!)
Love Live Ep 1: Honoka found out that their school, Otonokizaki Academy is closing down due to the school declining applicants. After looking at a fellow school, UTX Academy which used student idols to attract new students, she came up with an idea to start up a school idol group to promote their school.
Although the student council head, Eri rejected the idea, Honoka and her two friends, Umi and Kotori decided to go ahead with the idea and aim to become idols to save their school...
Another show in which the school is facing closure? How clique can they keep using the same plot again? Anyway, the plot isn't nothing new as the underdogs which is Honoka and her friends is determining to save their school. But I have a strange feeling that the first episode felt like something out of High School Musical the Movie with a number every five minutes or so.
Even when the end credits begin, Honoka and her friends started singing a number in front of the school. The dancing looked similar to the one they used for Idolmaster but in some shots, it was pretty bad. But never mind, I just want to see how far the girls will go to save their school...
