Kira Kira Precure Ala Mode Ep 25 Review: Choco Macaron

Let's Cooking! This is my review of Kira Kira Precure episode 25 and Yukari is being proposed and Akira isn't liking it! (I will skip the episode summary and just go straight to my thoughts)

So how to make two girls like each other without making it awkward for kids watching on a Sunday Morning? By introducing all sort of hijinks and mixed signals! Yukari obviously has a crush on Akira but never tell straight about her feelings and act all fickle minded when a Prince from a foreign country proposed to her.

Akira being Akira immediately rejected it and the Prince challenged her for Yukari's hand. What follow was several contest which clearly the Prince is a good for nothing like Minami/Cure Mermaid's self-proclaimed Fiance.

Both Yukari and Akira are not honest with each other until Ciel (who still has regret about Pikario's fate) tell Akira to toughen up about Yukari. For once, Ichika wasn't the mood maker and it was a breath of fresh air to see Ciel who has yet to blend into the team to give the suggestion. Yukari also admitted that she is not Miss Perfect as reminded by Julio of how she does is just give mixed signals and being a struck up.

Elysio's appearance was a bit of letdown compared to Grave last week as all he does was sucked the Prince's Kiraru energy, make a monster and mock Cure Chocolat. Of course the power of Love and Friendship saved the day with both gems from Akira and Yukari glowing which means the Legendary Patisserie accepted their Yuri Love?! (Yeah, I am aware that Elysio created a monster out of a Lily Plant which is the Japanese name for Yuri, very subtle, Toei!)

Overall, an all right episode if you like Akira and Yukari's shipping. Next episode, the girls went to a deserted Island and guess who they saw?  Biburi who is all broken from her defeat! Will she go up against the girls again or Ciel who saved her able to change her heart? Until then, see you in the next post!

P.S: I recently started watching certain clips of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic on Youtube and it is not bad with certain similarities to Precure. I even find the Equestrain Girls movies pretty fun to watch. I don't call myself a Brony but I respect how a 1980s girls toyline become a very fun and enjoyable series today. Looking at how many seasons this series is on, do you think it is okay to jump in now? Any recommendations?

Kira Kira Precure Ala Mode Ep 24 Review: Hunger Panic!

Let's Cooking! This is my review of Kira Kira Precure episode 24 and Ciel officially joined the team!

First thing first! Pikario didn't die! (Though I wish he did since it will gave the girls real consequences for their actions) Not only it was a cop-out from last week but in fact, the secret room in the cave is putting Pikario on life support. The girls were also given 6 colors pearls which I am guessing is for their next power-up.

Which it is obvious as we are introduced to two new generals-Elysio and Grave after Biburi was defeated. (Hope she come back as a crazed psycho since no body means no death)

However the focus is on Ciel and her interaction with Ichika, Himari and Aoi. Ciel enrolled into Ichika's class after having lunch with her and her father. (Although how she managed to get in without parents or guardian's permission is another question but then this is Precure where everyone is a little bit oblivious to certain things)

Ciel excel in almost every subjects except Japanese Language since she spent most of her time in France. But the big surprise was Ciel need to eat a lot or else she will turn back into Kirain which I am guessing she used a lot of energy to maintain her human form. However Ciel revert to Kirain and create a scene in school-like how Ha-Chan roam around the school when she first appeared.

The three Junior girls managed to find Ciel and they accepted her weakness since they are all friends now. (Which I actually like this scene with Kirain hugging them on the cheeks) Of course, Grave appeared with his minions and decided to suck up any Kirain energy in the town like a vacuum. (Which means that the villains are going for a more offensives approach rather than aiming a certain target like Biburi and Rio)

The battle isn't anything special despite Cure Parfait joining the fight (No group pose since Yukari and Akira joined in later) The ending is Ciel joining the girls in making cupcakes which I am guessing she might have closed off her own cafe. (So what happen to her staff? Did they magically disappear?)

I agreed that Cure Parfait's addition in the opening felt lazy as they just superimposed her like Photoshop.

You are a Pal, Principal!

Overall, a pretty okay episode with some funny moments with Ichika making a pun joke on her school principal and the girls accepting Ciel as their new friend and ally. Grave is probably the muscle of the group although I hope one of the girls become his opposite in order to hype the tension.

Next episode, the focus is on Yukari and Akira as Elysio make his move on Yukari which cause some tension between Akira and her. Until then, see you in the next post!

P.S: Dragonball Super has finally hit the 100th episode with homages from Dragonball Z Movie 8 and 9. Jired has also proven that there is nothing big deal about Super Saiyan that he cannot handle since he one-shot Kale like nothing.

Kira Kira Precure Ala Mode Ep 23 Review: Over the Rainbow!

Let's Cooking! This is my review of Kira Kira Precure episode 23 and what happen after Pikario has been restored to normal or did it?

Yukari: Trying to act tough? I am more than you can handle!

Apparently Pikario didn't become a goody two shoes after purified instead he still hate Ciel for what he has become and she took it really hard as she was responsible for what he has become. Ciel ran away and sulked herself in her kitchen.

Pikario continued to add insults to Ciel and everyone thought he was getting way out of hand however Pikario showed everyone that he can never create any Kiraru filled food due to his corruption and hate of Ciel. Ciel took it hard and had a mental breakdown. Noir immediately took this opportunity to corrupt her.

Noir trapped Ciel in a black sphere and Ichika and Pikario rushed in before it was flowing in the sky. At the same time, a worn-out Biburi beg for Noir to give her one more chance and he merged her doll with her into a giant creature.

The remaining four girls battled Biburi while Ichika and Julio/Pikario found Ciel falling into despair. Ichika asked Julio to recreate the waffles again and he reluctantly create it. Ichika who also transformed, buy Julio enough time to make the waffles and he presented to Ciel. She took a bite and somehow there was enough Kiraru energy from the waffles to restore her.

Julio was pierced with an arrow! For Sunday Morning Kids' show!

Ciel reawakened with a new resolve and rushed to create her new animal sweet. Everyone fought to hold back Biburi but not before Noir fired an arrow at Ciel and Julio sacrifice himself to save her. Ciel finally created the Pegasus Parfait and she transformed into Cure Parfait!

I don't know why, I feel kinda of sorry for Biburi...Maybe I have a thing for broken female characters...

Cure Parfait held Julio in her arms and he gave the black star staff to her which changed into the new Rainbow Rod. Together with the girls, they finally defeated Biburi who was flung into the ocean.

However Pikario is dying and bid farewell to everyone before disappearing...not knowing the secret room from the cave is glowing...

Did we have a new scriptwriter for this episode? I am actually enjoying this episode which has the same vibe similar to how Haruka and Kanata freed Towa from Dyspear and she was given Kanata's violin to become her new weapon.

Usually a former antagonist who was purified by the Precures will be back to being good but for Pikario, it was different. Even though he was no more crazy psycho from last week, he is still the arrogant jerk who hate his sister, Ciel/Kirain and he is not really wrong. Seeing how he can never make normal food again as he is too corrupted to come back, Ciel took it very hard and Noir took this chance to corrupt her.

(See, Maho Tsukai! This is how you make a villain menacing. It might be weird for the final boss to be proactive but when he make a move so early in the series, you know things are going to get real!)

Even though we have a really colorful battle with Ciel becoming into Cure Parfait but the price was too heavy as Julio/Pikario paid the ultimate price and died! (For kids!) Cure Parfait's debut battle is perhaps the best usage of the Candy Rod without pulling a punch although it is really one side for the four remaining girls to face a power-up Biburi with a stick. (Toei, make them physical!)

Overall, a great episode for Cure Parfait's debut! We also get a new ending song which is fun and catchy. Next episode, Ciel now transferred to Ichika's school and hi jinks ensues! A new villain that is tough looking! Let's see how Ciel integrate with the five girls to become a new team! Until then, see you in the next post!
