Delicious Party Precure Ep 12 Review: The Fall of Gentle!

Hi, Everyone! This is my short review of Episode 12 of Delicious Party Precure and the conclusion of the first arc of the series.

The girls and Rosemary were discussing Amane being Gentle and suspected she might be under mind controlled by the Bundoru Gang. True enough, Lord Godatz brainwashed Gentle again to become a full slave. 

Yui told the other two girls that she wants to help Amane as someone who can see the food fairies is a good person and also tell them about what happened if they too get mind controlled and unable to enjoy the good food anymore. This upset Kome Chan but Yui and everyone console her and also agreed that they have to free Gentle's mind control.

The next day, Gentle created an Ubauzo and is destroying the town. The girls and Rosemary managed to defeat the Ubauzo but failed to connect with Gentle. Rosemary showed the girls a business card from Amane's family store and the girls came up with a plan to trap Gentle.

Gentle felt for the trap which is a fake blog post by Ran but it backfired when Takumi came out of another restaurant and Gentle trapped a new food fairy to create a new Ubauzo. Takumi also witnesses the girls and Rosemary enter the Delicious Field.

Cure Spicy and Cure Yumyum battled the Ubauzo and Cure Precious tried to convince Gentle to see her way. Even after Rosemary suffered some damage shielding Cure Precious, she continues to move forward to Gentle. It was until she pulled out the business card to Gentle that she stop for a moment. The card shows a drawing of a food fairy that Amane was able to see in her family store. 

Amane struggled to break free and told Cure Precious to save her. But Lord Godatz's grip on her created a dark heart which make the Ubauzo even stronger. The girls team up together and used their team attack-Precure Mix Heart Attack and vanquished the dark heart and the Ubauzo.

Gentle reverted back to an unconscious Amane and Rosemary told the girls she is going to be all right. But he senses someone is spying from afar and it happened to be Takumi who is holding a strange box in his hand...

I felt the confrontation between Yui and Amane was a bit rushed. Yui only has 2 or 3 interactions with Amane and now she wants to save Amane. I do understand Toei want to make Yui a kind and helpful person but there is no lead up other than Amane was able to see the food fairies and Yui tried to have a failed conversation with her before that. 

The plot device in this episode is the business card that somehow makes Gentle/Amane stop her tracks and Amane was friendly to the food fairy in her family store. We also get our first team attack which is basically three small beams becoming one big beam in the form of the Precure Mix Heart Attack and our three girls thank the meal together with the purified Ubauzo. 

The last scene is the prologue to our next arc with our boy, Takumi getting involved with the girls. We knew that there was a mystery surrounding Takumi even since the first episode when Rosemary finds him oddly familiar and Takumi's probing with Yui in the previous episodes. We also see that he is holding a small box that has an emblem of a spoon, a fork and a heart in the middle. Could it be that Takumi is somehow related to the Cookingdom which is why Rosemary finds him familar?

Until then, we will see the aftermath of Amane's behaviour in the next episode. With Narcistoru taking over, it is certain that his methods will be more aggressive and sinister compared to Gentle. With the title called "Takumi's secret" in the next episode, I am guessing things will start to heat up in the following arc. Until then, stay safe and see you in the next post!

 

Delicious Party Precure Ep 11 Review: Gentle's Trap!

Hi, Everyone! This is my short review of Episode 11 of Delicious Party Precure and expected, Gentle, laid a trap to corner the girls with the one thing they fear most-a test!

Gentle confronted Narcistoru after the last battle since pouring her energy caused the fairies to be in great pain but Narcistoru just shunned her views and claimed she still failed her mission despite given a more powerful capture device.

Gentle as Amane decided to set a mock-up test for the whole school at the last minute and as a result, both Yui and Ran failed the test and had to stay behind for make-up assignments. At the same time, Gentle captured two fairies from the Potato salad store. Kokone then faced the Ubauzo alone and Rosemary went after Gentle.

Takumi saw Yui and Ran struggling in their assignments and immediately got dragged by the two girls to help finish their assignments. Takumi then asked Yui if Rosemary is connected to the Ubauzo's appearances in town which Yui played dumb. But Takumi mentioned that the Ubauzo seems to be scaring people off instead of doing any serious damage to the surroundings.

Ran finished her assignments first and joined up with Rosemary to confront Gentle. The three of them entered the Delicious Field with Yui joining last with Kome Chan. Cure Spicy finished off the Ubauzo with her Heart Juicy Mixer and Cure Yum Yum blasted Gentle with her own Heart Juicy Mixer.

Gentle's mask broke revealing to be Amane in front of the girls. Amane's eyes changed from Red to Blue and she seemed confused about what is going on. Suddenly Narcistoru dragged her back to their lair leaving the girls confused about the predicament...

The old "Keep the girls busy" plan that Gentle had nearly succeeded if it wasn't for Takumi aiding Yui and Ran to finish their assignments. But at the same time, she is still conflicted about her recent actions and both Narcistoru and Secretor have already reported the matter to Lord Godatz. Narcistoru is definitely going to try to break Gentle/Amane even further in the next episode which we will probably find out what really happen to Amane that led her to become Gentle.

I was disappointed that Cure Spicy and Cure Yum Yum's attacks with the Heart Juicy Mixer are exactly the same as Cure Precious despite having different names for their attacks. Hopefully, we get a better team attack for the next power-up. Hearing what Takumi has to say about the Ubauzo also has Yui suspecting that Gentle might not be as bad as they think she is since she only focuses on capturing the fairies and battling the girls instead of rampaging the town which oddly enough, Gentle mentioned it is not her style to have collateral damage and focus only on the target which in this case are the fairies. She even apologized to the fairies when they are in pain but somehow this caused her to struggle with her internal self.

Since this episode ended with a cliffhanger, we have to see what happens next in the next episode preview, Gentle was brainwashed again and confronted the girls with a vengeance. Can the girls able to bring Gentle/Amane back to her senses? I know this season is moving fast with Gentle's arc but it is necessary because of the delays, I don't mind having the main plot move now rather than later but I am also worried about what happened after bringing Amane to Team Delicious Party? Will there be more fillers just to fill up the rest of the season? Hopefully, I am wrong and we can have a more plot-focused season than last season's disaster. Delicious Party Precure Ep 10 Review: The Cries of a New Power! Heart Juicy Mixer!

Hi, Everyone! This is my short review of Episode 10 of Delicious Party Precure and the beginning of Gentle Arc. My thoughts on Episode 9 were that it is okay with Kokone and Ran couldn't get along at first until both of them took one step back to accept each other. The introduction of the new general, Narcistoru which we can see in the latest episode, he is basically the A-hole you want to punch real hard on him since he claimed that he wants to control Gentle like a string puppet and probably will break her spirit if necessary.

In this episode, Kome has grown into an adorable toddle and the girls again went for a food trip. Gentle was given a new capture device by Narcistoru and hinted to fuse some of her powers into it after capturing the fairies.

The gang arrived at a cafe to have some Omurice and saw some fairies which greeted them and Gentle as Amane in the same cafe. Yui noticed Amane could also see the fairies too and tried to befriend her and she immediately leave the cafe.

Amane became Gentle and captured the fairies and created a more powerful Ubauzou. The girls transformed and tried to take on the Ubauzou. However, it is too strong and they were knocked to the ground. The girls including Gentle could hear the fairies crying in pain which got the girls to get back up with more determination. 

This caused all the fairies they have saved so far to grant them the Heart Juicy Mixer. Cure Precious used it to fire the Delicious Precious Heat and defeated the Ubauzou. Gentle felt regret and apologise to the girls that she had hurt the fairies before retreating. Narcistoru who was spying on them decided to take advantage of Gentle further.

After the battle, the girls make a large pudding together and enjoy their victory. However, Yui was concerned about Gentle's words but that is a story for another time...

As expected from a Sixth Ranger arc, Yui will probably have a similar experience to Love and Setsuna when she faced Amane in the future. We can see that Gentle/Amane has conflicting issues with Amane the last string of humanity left inside Gentle. But this is Precure if someone is mind-controlled, it is going to take a lot of effort and some bloodshed to overcome. Narcistoru seems to be the one responsible for Gentle's brainwashing which I hope this season, we can see some psychological moments similar to Towa but then parents already complained that was too dark in Go Princess Precure. 

I hope we can see more of Amane getting more conflicts. (So far Kayano Ai's acting is a bit subtle as both Gentle and Amane) We are also already a month behind schedule and this sudden change of pace is probably necessary since the Sixth Ranger arc is usually around the 17th to 25th episode without any delay. The new toy or I mean item-Heart Juicy Mixer is okay since it serves as the girls' first powerup. Looking at the item, it has three symbols for each of the girls and since Cure Precious was the first one to fire like Ironman's Proton Cannon, I hope the other two girls will have different usage for the Heart Juicy Mixer in the next few episodes. It will be really disappointing and lazy if the other girls fire the same thing but a different colour pattern. 

One more thing in the episode is that we now know that Yui's grandmother has passed on but she treasures her grandmother's words and gentle spirit. So in another word, we are listening to the narration from a ghost and Toei decided to pull back on grandmother's lines since we don't need an explanation for every minor or major thing that happened in the episode. 

In the next episode, Amane created a mock test for the girls and both Yui and Ran ended up in remedial class. Can the two girls actually pass the make-up test with Cure Spicy facing the Ubauzou alone? Until then, stay safe and see you in the next post!
