Winter Anime 2018 Preview-Another Subtle end to 2018...

Hello everyone! This is my preview for the upcoming Winter anime 2018 which begin this January! (Some of the series synopsis are taken from other sources)

Star☆Twinkle Precure: The next Precure series which focus on the Zodiac and the wonders of Space!

As you can tell, it looked like anime studios are just clearing out series that were on the shelves before the start of the Spring season. Looking at this line-up, I could count less than 5 series that I am interested and the rest are probably "the three episodes" rules. But given that several shows from the autumn line-up are going for their second run this January, it is not a complete loss.

I know some of you are asking about my thoughts about Star Twinkle Precure since the official website announce a lot of details which I do have my thoughts and worries since Hugtto Precure has leave such an impression (most of the time) to me so far. If time permits, I will probably write my thoughts about Star Twinkle Precure in a post before the actual show aired this February.

Hugtto Precure Ep 45 Top 3 Moments: The Craze Before Christmas!

Horray! Horray! This is my review of Hugtto Precure Ep 45 and the girls meet the real Santa Claus...

No 3: Santa need help!

Apparently it is the real St Nick and he claimed that his reindeer is sick as such he is unable to deliver the presents on Christmas Eve. The girls offered to help and Dr Trauma appeared (how did he get into Harry's shop without anyone noticing him) and he has a robotic Reindeer with a creepy voice to deliver the presents.

As the girls were preparing the presents, we also see Saya's mother Reira giving her a present and she gave her blessings for Saya to follow her dream. Soon everything was ready and Hana, Emiru and Hug-Tan follow Santa to deliver the presents.

As they delivered the presents, the more Asu Power was created which delighted everyone. Even Hana gave a little girl her assurance that her parents will come back to celebrate Christmas with her which it did.

No 2: Jenos's Last Stand!

Jenos was getting impatient with George who is seen painting a field and ignoring her pleas to take action. She found the same bottle that her former followers, Takumi and Jinjin used to turn themselves into an Oshimaida.

Jenos appeared in front of the girls who were preparing their Christmas party and drank the contents. She turned into a large Oshimaida and started petrifying the city. The girls went to battle and were struggling against her.

Suddenly Takumi and Jinjin appeared and told Jenos they still care about her no matter how old she become. This weaken Jenos and the girls purified her.

Later that night, Jenos was welcomed by her two followers who celebrate Christmas with her...

No 1: Ruru's present to Dr Trauma.

Ruru decided to give Dr Trauma a surprise by making curry rice for him after learning what Christmas is all about. Although Dr Trauma was overbearing when she was preparing the presents, she finally went to ask Hana's mother on making curry rice.

Although it failed the first time, Ruru was encouraged to make it her own way which she finally presented to Dr Trauma and even called her father. Dr Trauma was touched and tried to get her to say again but she politely declined him again...

This episode is a mix bag. One, we do get to see Jenos' desperation on why George is not doing anything and she make the same mistake like her followers by turning herself into an Oshimaida. Ironically enough, it was her two followers, Takumi and Jinjin which she previously dumped them, who saved her from despair and she finally turned into a new leaf.

The other was the Christmas part which I am not really convinced that was the real St Nick since he only delivered presents to their town only. (But then Precure has little logic on what they do) and I am pretty sure that Santa has a pack of reindeer and not just one to help him pull his sledge. The funny part was Santa just walked out of the door when his job is finished which how he is going back to the north pole or wherever he came from...

But I really enjoyed Ruru's efforts in trying to make Dr Trauma happy. Although Dr Trauma was overbearing which annoyed Ruru but I know they loved each other very much especially when Dr Trauma took a hit by Jenos which was meant for Ruru.

As we see George painting a field and later paint it over with white paint showed how his mind is already warped that he is willing to destroy the present to create his own future. Seeing that next episode is the new year episode and George finally choose to go after Hana, it will be the prelude to the finale!

Hugtto Precure Ep 44 Top 3 Moments: Arigato, Oka-San!

Horray! Horray! This is my review of Hugtto Precure Ep 44 and Saya finally got a chance to act with her mother in a new movie...

No 3: VR Fantasy again!?

Ristel used the same VR device to trap the girls, Saya's mother, Harry and Hug-Tan, Ranze, Dr Maki and Daigan into the VR world and they have to act in character in order to get out of the world.

It was also fun to see Emiru as a little witch spouting out "Cure Up Rapapa" from Maho Tsukai and Ruru as a cat girl saying Mirai's catchphrase. Even Daigan showed up (To everyone's surprise) and tried to protect Saya from a cute dragon which ran over him 3 seconds flat...

No 2: Saya want to be a doctor!

Throughout the episode, Saya was feeling anxious working with her mother Reira and was not giving her all during the scenes with her mother. This annoyed Ranze who also showed up and claimed that Saya is betraying their rivalry.

Later, Saya asked Dr Maki why did she choose to be a obstetrician and she was touched by the birth of life when she is still an intern and choose this career path. Saya finally took the courage and told her mother that this will be the first and last film together as she decided to be a doctor after that.

Ranze was upset about it but Saya explained her reasons which she finally admitted defeat. The two of them finally make peace and agreed to be the best in their field. (Which also change Saya's clothing into a similar get-up as Dr Maki-probably a healer class) Reira didn't express her feelings to Saya and it cause her to become an Oshimaida by Ristle.

No 1: Arigato, Oka-San!

Reira's Oshimaida grabbed Hug-Tan and absorbed her into her body. The girls went to battle and Cure Ange realised her mother is the Oshimaida. She too entered the Oshimaida's body and into Reira's psyche.

 

Saya saw what her mother has went through for her and even see Reira giving birth to Saya which touched her. Reira admitted that she has problems expressing her feelings to Saya all these years despite knowing that her daughter has looked up to her.

Saya thanked her for taking care of her and giving her a chance to express her love for her. The two finally hugged each other and free her from the Oshimaida...

This episode is a more better episode than the previous episode between Saya and Reira. Since Reira is always portrayed as a calm and cool mother but yet to see that Saya has grown up which she finally broke down in her psyche. However being the gentle and understanding daughter, Saya was able to understand her mother's love and thank her for bringing to this world.

It was also no brainier that Saya choose to be a doctor rather than follow the same path as her mother which is too similar to Minami's arc when she choose to be an ocean veterinarian than taking over her family business. The differences was Minami was worried of her family's rejections while Reira was more less expressive towards Saya.

It also gave closure between Ranze and Saya which I felt that Ranze was given too little chance in the series so far unlike Ranko and Kirara which I enjoyed their banter when the two are around.

Other than Daigan who actually thank Saya for trying to save his soul when he was apparently "killed" and her choosing the path she want to go with in her life. The rest of the girls were just goofing around until the battle with the Oshimaida.

After everyone returned to the real world, the girls realised it will be Christmas soon and Hug-Tan summoned Santa Claus from above!? Seeing it is the obligatory Christmas episode next week, we are getting closer and closer to the final episode. Until then, see you in the next post!
