Hirogaru Sky Precure Ep 2 Review: My Enigma Grandmother!

Hi, Everyone! This is my short review of Episode 2 of Hirogaru Sky Precure which led to more questions!

The short version is Mashiro brought Sora and Eru to her Grandmother Yoyo's home and oddly enough, Grandma Yoyo was not taken aback by Sora and Eru's appearance. She even instructed Mashiro on making milk for Eru and allow the two new friends to stay.

Why couldn't we have such reactions at Delicious Party?

Sora later explained to Mashiro that she wants to be a hero because she was saved by a real heroine when she got lost in the forbidden forest as a child. Even though Kabaton appeared again and used a vending machine as a Ranborg monster, Cure Sky purified the Ranborg with ease.

Buy our merchandise, kids!

Grandma is spying on you...hehe...

Mashiro also bought a Pretty Holic notebook for Sora to write her dreams which she accepted. While all this is going on, Grandma Yoyo was watching both of them through a magic mirror on her table and said the girls' story was about to begin...

One thing for certain, Yoyo is alive and well and even gave words of tranquility to Mashiro and Sora. I also suspected she is expecting them to come to Earth all this while. This definitely makes up for Yui's dead grandmother and the unnecessary narration in the previous season. I won't be surprised that Yoyo is actually the one who saved young Sora in the flashback.

This makes things more interesting, especially since we might have a senior character who is aware of what is really going on and probably knew who is behind Eru's kidnapping. Similar to Tsubomi/Cure Blossom's grandmother is a former Precure in HeartCatch Precure, hopefully, Yoyo is able to aid the girls in the near future.

Overall, an interesting 2nd episode, and Mashiro will become Cure Prism in the 4th episode. So next week's episode will still be the status quo unless something happened. Until then, take care, and see you in the next post!

Tropical Rouge Precure Ep 33 Review: So Precure on Drugs?

Hi, Everyone! This is my short review of Tropical Rouge Precure Episode 33 and I know I have not been doing any reviews but it is due to some personal and family matters. Furthermore, the last few episodes aren't that good to do a review.

However this week Toei went all Pop Team Epic and basically give Precure on Drugs with 10 (or is that 11) short skits among the cast- From rescuing a turtle who invited all his friends to Manatsu's house for no apparent reason, the villains having their own downtime, Kyururu dreaming she is a Precure and so on.

Of course, the highlight of the episode is a Cameo appearance of Team Heart Catch as Team Tropical Rouge watch videos of "Legendary Precures" and Laura commented they should look like elderly people which pissed off Cure Marine as she and the others were sitting on the rooftop of the clubhouse.

But then it was just a dream by Tsubomi who told her friends about Team Tropical Rouge although Erika think of something else about the team. I know this is to promote the upcoming crossover movie although I will rather have some foreshadowing like how Super Sentai and Kamen Rider will have sneak peeks or hints to their upcoming movies.

Anyway, the whole episode is just 22 minutes of crazy antics which I like some of it but it is better off like a spin-off series or extras in the Blu-ray and DVD's special features.

Overall, some people might like it while others might not. Until then, see you in the next post!

My Initial thoughts and hopes on Tropical Rouge Precure!

Hi, Everyone! It has been two months since my last post and if you think I kicked the bucket (Well, of course not!) I am still around but you can tell from the last few episodes of Healing Good Precure, I am not really keen in doing the reviews as it felt like fillers or rather episodes that were supposed to come out three months ago and now showing it.

I felt that Toei doesn't want to waste those delayed episodes that were done already and aired it now which leave myself very uninterested. I will probably pick back the series once the final quarter begins but until then, let's talk about Tropical Rouge Precure!

So when the initial title was announced a few weeks back, my head was trying to guess what the theme of the show will be- since Tropical and Rouge are in the title, it most probably had to do with the ocean and beach for Tropical. For Rouge, I took a wild guess that it is probably fashion and sure enough, I was right about for this new season.

From what it was described in the synopsis which is about our new lead, Natsumi Manatsu moved to Aozora City and encountered a real-life mermaid named Laura and her companion Kururu who are finding the legendary Precures to battle an Evil Witch who has conquered Laura's kingdom in the ocean.

It sounds too familiar like Happiness Charge and Go Princess's plotline but what this new season stand out was instead of a Pink Cure, we have a White (or Rainbow) Cure as the main lead! Natsumi will become Cure Summer (which Natsumi is the Japanese word for Summer) and instead of Pink hair, we are getting a Blond with shades of primary colours for Cure Summer. (Maybe because Zekaiger who is also a Multicolour ranger and it is also Super Sentai 45th anniversary next year, Toei might want to do something special between the two series)

Rounding up the rest of the cast, we have Suzumuru Sango who becomes Cure Coral (Sango is the Japanese word for Coral), Ichinose Minori who becomes Cure Papaya (Ichinose means Waves in Japanese) and Takizawa Asuka as Cure Flamingo (Takizawa means Graceful Waterfall). Probably interesting that this team doesn't follow the usual primary colours which I am okay with that as long as the story and characters are interesting enough.

My only hopes that it doesn't get delayed like Healing Good and we will end up having storylines that don't make any sense or do not add anything into the whole narration of the series. From the way this promo picture look, the girls are holding their weapons which is another rod stick gimmick, I really want back my physical fights again. Healing Good has the issues of holding the stick on one hand and not doing much with non dormant hands or even their legs. Other than that, not much to say until we get a voice cast list and the first promo video to predict how the overall tone of the show will be.

So who is your favourite cure for Tropical Rouge based on your initial thoughts? Mine is Cure Flamingo since I am a sucker for tough girls with a soft heart. Until then, see you in the next post! Happy New Year and hope for a better year in 2021!

Hugtto Precure Ep 46 Top 3 Moments: Crisis Descends! Part 1 (Plus Star Twinkle Precure Trailer Thoughts)

Horray! Horray! This is my review of Hugtto Precure Ep 46 and this is the first post for 2019 and the beginning of the end for Hugtto Precure!

No 3: Happy New Year!

Saya love spicy stuff!

The girls were having their celebration for the New Year from playing games to eating sweets made by Hana's grandmother. Even Papple and company joined in the festivals.

Dr Trauma was invited to join Hana's family for the occasion and he went all daddy love on Ruru which embarrassed her.

No 2: Hana and George.

At the start of the episode, Hana was having a dream of her wearing a wedding dress and seeing pictures of people who inspired others. However George appeared in her dream and claimed that their efforts are in vain as people grew to be selfish and untrustworthy.

Later, Hana was in the same lift with George and he offered a bouquet of Craspedia which he claimed it means eternal happiness. (It is more to good health according to some sources) Hana rejected his bouquet and he started preaching of how humans have become selfish as a result of civilization advances and cause civilization to collapse.

Hana!?

George even claimed he froze time so that no one including the Precures from the future will not suffer any more pain. Hana tried to argue back saying that there is still hope for humanity after they managed to save people from their pain. But George insisted that it is futile and want Hana to remember how her peers humiliated her in her former school.

But Hana stood up and announced that she believe in her friends and the future before Saya and Homare came to her aid. George retreated and decided to go all out immediately!

No 1: Crisis Descends!

George make the Crisis Building landed near the beach and fired a beam at the town causing everyone to froze in time. The girls who are not affected by the time froze immediately went into battle to stop George and his hordes of Oshimaida!

The girls fought hard with the aid of the Mirai Pad and managed to clear a large number of Oshimaida. George turned the building into the Giant Shadowy figure from the early episodes and captured Hug-Tan.

Cure Yell tried to save her but was knocked back down and the girls were confronted by Ristle, Bishin and a new horde of Oshimaida...

So we are finally at the endgame as George's motives is slightly revealed. It looked like George lose someone very dear to him (Which everyone is probably speculating it is an adult Hana) and his idea of freezing time so that Adult Hana will not be taken away is probably out of desperation. But it probably drove him mad that he blamed the whole world for his pain. Even Dr Trauma mentioned to Ruru that George's ideals is a mystery and no one really knew what he is thinking.

George was further disgusted by how humans behave like savages and loathed at humanity destruction claiming they deserve it. But of course Hana being the optimistic and positive girl she is, does not believe that all humans are bad and people and the future can changed.

But that didn't stop George and he went all out freezing the townspeople and the girls has no choice but to battle him and his horde of Oshimaida. With Hug-Tan captured by him, can the girls save her and stop George's plan? Until then, see you in the next post!

Thoughts on Star Twinkle Precure:

We finally get a trailer for Star Twinkle Precure with our Pink Cure of 2019, Hoshina Hikaru aka Cure Star introducing herself. The trailer doesn't really show much other than seeing Hikaru meeting Fuwa and a silhouette of Hagoromo Lala and Prunce coming out of their spaceship. Plus a sneak peek of Hikaru's transformation of Cure Star!

Fuwa look cute but I still like Hug-Tan!

Is that real Flying Saucers!?

It looked pretty colorful and Hikaru sounds a bit too high pitched but it might grow on me after several times. The transformation item looked like a Quill pen and a pendant so if you lose one of it which I am guessing is the pen, you are screwed.

The Pendant has the symbols of all 12 Zodiac..

Star Twinkle has a lot to live up to since Hugtto Precure has outdone and improved many of the Precures cliches. My hope is that there is a return of physical fights as Hugtto Precure is still playing it safe. The villains and side characters hopefully are interesting enough like Hugtto Precure and a plot that doesn't involve time travel.

Cure Star! Our Pink Cure for 2019!

Until then, let's see how Team Star Twinkle fare when the show premise on 3rd February! (Yes, I am aware of the Precure Universe Movie but I am more focus on the main show itself)

Hugtto Precure Ep 37 Review: All Precures Assemble! Part 2

Hi everyone! Let's not waste any more time and see how this episode is history in the making!

Cure Yell's group were shocked by Dr Trauma's plan to freeze time but Cure Dream immediately rush forward to attack Dr Trauma. The others followed suit to attack him.

The second group has just defeated the Oshimaida and Chiffon used her power to teleport everyone to the first group. Team Hugtto tried to defeat Dr Trauma with Cheerful Style and damaged his time reverse device.

Cure Whip and Cure Custard are very polite to greet their senior!

This is what Ruru is looking through her sensor!?

But Dr Trauma absorbed all the Asu power and become an orb-like creature and caught Cure Yell and Hug-Tan. Team Max Heart arrived to save them but Dr Trauma created a black hole and engulfed all the girls leaving the mascots behind.

Hi Mipple!

Hug-Tan started calling out the girls and the others followed. Hana's friendship bracelet started to glow and could hear the mascots' calling. The others struggle to get up and with enough will power, they broke free and transformed again.

My Favourite Princesses!

Dr Trauma created an endless amount of Oshimaida that surrounded the girls. However, Team Princess arrived to clear a path and the various teams who were freed from the time freeze also appeared to aid them. (Although Harry is wondering did Hug-Tan brought the other teams here?)

Ice and Water Team!

Star Power!

Cowardly Yellow!

Blade Team!

This one I am not very sure..

The Ball Attack Team!

The Protection Team!

The Lively and Funny Pinks!

The Chef Team!

The Flower Duo! (Best Match!)

The Oneechan Team!

The 6th Ranger!

Best Pair Team!

Music Team!

All the Precures assembled and began fighting back! (This part is totally fan service to the Extreme! Words have no little to describe how crazy and awesome the team up fights were!)

Dr Trauma is weakened by the leaders' cures and he grew even bigger than the Earth. Cure Yell wondered if they could defeat such a thing but Cure Black told her not to give up as everyone gave Team Hugtto a boost and their friendship bracelet become the new Mirai Brace!

Team Hugtto used their new attack-Precure All For You and everyone including a few surprises cameos dealt the final blow to Dr Trauma. He then saw a past self looking at a new activated Ruru. Ruru told Dr Trauma to let go of the past and he went off peacefully...

Happy 15th Anniversary!!!

George was speechless by the power of the Precures and soon later, everyone returned back to their own time as Team Hugtto were glad to meet their seniors...

Look like Toei blew up their budget for this episode as this is by far a celebration of why we love Precure! Every scene was stacking up one after another with so many last-minute safe! Love how there are still interactions during the battles among the various teams and yes, every Cure team up based on they are good at-like the Ice/Water team, Protection Team, The Oneechan team (But Aguri/Cure Ace is still an elementary student!) and so on.

Although it was a little disappointing that not everyone came back to voice their characters leaving with some odd moments where characters like Cure Happy and Cure Melody are fighting but no voice expression. Maybe a fan could try to re-edit this scene with voice clips to make it better. (Yes, I am aware the crossover movie will have more seiyuus to voice their characters)

But who cares if there are plot holes? This is how an anniversary season should be although if they did such a big team up for the midseason, how are they going to top up the finale?

I wish that Dr Trauma has more character development other than being Ruru's creator before his demise. Like one or two scenes where he interacts with Ruru and to understand his motivation in joining Crisis. His flashback scene didn't tell much other than he was happy to see Ruru activated for the first time and Ruru told him to let go of his past.

Overall, a fun anniversary episode despite some plot holes but the team-up is awesome! Koei/Tecmo and Bandai/Namco! Can we finally get the Precure Musou Warriors game that was voted the most wanted anime series for a Warriors game? I think we can do it now with 55 Precures compared to Warriors Orochi 4's 170 characters!

Next episode is the Halloween episode and Hana decided to teach Harry, Ruru and Hug-Tan what Halloween is but Ristle decided to recruit Daigan again to fill up the ranks. Until then, see you in the next post!
