Tropical Rouge Precure Ep 2 Review: A Balancing Act!

Hi, Everyone! This is my review of Tropical Rouge Precure Episode 2 and it is the first day of school for Manatsu!

Before we started the review, here is a Youtube video of a fanmade scene of Manatsu trying to open the Tropical Pouch for the first time which parodies Fuwa/Kamen Rider Vulcan in Kamen Rider Zero One. (The comments, if you can read Japanese, is hilarious if you have watch Kamen Rider Zero One)

Laura is pounding at the remaining three Tropical Pouches as she still needed to find potential humans to become Precure. (While also having delusions of becoming Queen of Grand Ocean) Manatsu was amazed by how Laura is inside the Mermaid Aqua Pot like a second home as she bid farewell to her since it is the first day of school.

An Another Hot Mama!

Manatsu introduced herself to her class teacher, Sakuragawa Saki and was surprised to see Sango in the same class. Sango explained the shop belongs to her family and even invited her to the shop and her mother, Miyuki.

When Manatsu came back, she was shocked to see an upset Laura in the bathtub. Manatsu took her to her mother's working place where Laura could stretch herself in the pool. Laura also explained that the Witch of Mawashi took all the motivations away from the inhabitants of the Grand Ocean but has no idea of what are the Witch's motives.

So Chongire also acts as the Chef in the Villains' Lair...

The next day, Laura begged Manatsu to take her to school and she hides her in her bag as she began searching for potential Precure candidates. When Manatsu was about to see the Club Orientation in the school hall, she accidentally drops the pot and Laura started swimming around the stream in the school.

Laura caused a ruckus in the school that got Manatsu all panicky. She found Laura but she was angry that Manatsu has dropped her and did not her duty as a Precure. Manatsu argued back that her school life is also important which got a furious Laura to swim away into the city stream.

At the same time, Chongire created a new Yaranede and started draining the people of their motivation. Laura almost got caught but Manatsu arrived (Her ring started glowing when the Yaranede appeared) She quickly transform into Cure Summer and make short work of the Yaranede after Laura retrieved the motivation from it.

When the battle was over, both girls apologise to each other as Manatsu walked back to the school hall where Sango is wondering about her actions...

This episode is kinda expected in the early stages of the story since Manatsu and Laura have to understand each other and what are the responsibilities of being a Precure. Laura is too eager to complete her mission in order to become Queen of Grand Ocean and started pestering Manatsu on finding the other Precures. It also shows that Laura is just blindsided to see that patience played a part to achieve anything. Manatsu did not consider that being a Precure also means that now she has to balance her life between school and being a Super Hero. Maybe because Manatsu is handling everything on her own and did not have a second opinion from anyone. (But that will change next week)

We also get to see Sango and the rest of the supporting characters in school and Sango's mother. Sango is the good girl in the team who is polite and nice to everyone. She was also suspicious of Manatsu's constant leaving out of the hall during the Club Orientation which it is no brainer that she will find out about Laura and Manatsu's secret identity in the next episode.

The fight scene is nothing spectacular but we do know now that Laura played a role in retrieving the Motivation from the Yaranede before the Precures finish it off. Maybe Laura might not be the Fifth Precure since she is the one who has to do the retrieving in every episode. (Unless Toei decided to save some money in hiring a new Seiyuu then Laura will have to get some feet to move around as I find it is too silly for her to be inside her pot every time until something serious happened)

Overall, not as exciting as the first episode but it developed Manatsu and Laura's relationship and introducing some of the supporting characters. As expected, next week will be Cure Coral's debut. Until then, stay safe and see you in the next post!
